Details: 1200 SF private NYC rooftop terrace design for a corporate client's new office overlooking Central Park. The new floor surface was raised and leveled 3 - 6" above the existing roof surface with Bison ipe tiles in custom herringbone pattern, and Hanover concrete pavers. Raising the floor surface removed the need to step over the threshold to exit the interior space, as well as improving the view over the parapet. Lightweight, but durable fiberglass planters by one of our favorite fabricators contain plantings of boxwood, hydrangea, and magnolia. Floor-grade planting beds utilizing green roof soil and drainage technology are planted with a mix of flowering perennials, grasses, and ground cover. Climbing hydrangea flanking the four exterior doors are supported by stainless steel Jakob system wire trellises anchored into the building facade. Michael Tull designed ipe benches and stone-topped tables on steel bases for each end of the long, L-shaped terrace. Other details include FX LED lighting system with wireless controller, Janus et Cie chairs, with wood block tables, sanded and repainted railing.
